The question
In December 2023, I wrote a classroom strategy memo asking whether Paramount+ should exit the subscription-streaming business or continue investing in it.
How I approached it
I compared the choices using the company’s financial position, the economics of its content and its options for growth. The memo considered bundling, international expansion and the relationship between producing content, licensing it and distributing it directly.
What the exercise required
The task was to reach a recommendation while making the trade-offs visible. A media business has to decide how much it can invest, which customers it can serve and how its different sources of revenue fit together.
